UC Systemwide Symposium
Since 2000, the bioengineering departments of all 10 UC campuses have collaborated to host an annual symposium, typically held in June, with the location rotating among the campuses. These symposia provide a platform for students, faculty, and industry partners to exchange cutting-edge research insights and foster collaborative opportunities. In recent years, the symposium has drawn 200–300 attendees, including students, faculty, and industry professionals. A highlight of the event is the Shu Chien Early Career Award session, where junior faculty members nominated by each campus present their research. The top prize winner receives a $1,000 honorarium.
The UC Systemwide Bioengineering Symposium rotates among the 10 campuses in the following order: UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, UC Irvine, UC Santa Cruz, UC San Francisco, UCLA, UC Riverside, and UC Merced. Where available, links to previous symposium websites are provided here.
